For everyone, here are this week’s artist opportunities! There are quite a few deadlines today, so I hope you get a chance to apply.

The American Library in Paris Visiting Fellowship

The Fellowship offers writers, researchers, and creators the unique opportunity to spend a month in Paris working independently on their own creative project while contributing to the cultural life of the Library.

In addition to working on their project, Fellows present a public program during their residency that engages our audience and members around a central theme. The theme for 2025-2026 is Ways of Seeing.

  • Open to writers, researchers, journalists, poets, screenwriters, playwrights, directors, and documentary filmmakers. International applicants are welcome

2025 Call for Art for the Phipps Galleries

The Phipps Center for the Arts invites artists to submit their work for consideration for solo, two-person, and small group exhibition opportunities in the professional exhibition spaces of the Phipps Galleries for the 2026-2027 season. Artists may also be considered for our Enriching Arts program, which brings original art to community exhibition locations, including healthcare and senior living facilities in Minnesota and Wisconsin.

Human x Machine: Exploring Art in the Age of AI

The Phipps Center for the Arts invites artists to submit work for Human x Machine: Exploring Art in the Age of AI, an exhibition that examines the intersections of creativity, technology, and humanity that will take place in the Phipps galleries, September 12-November 2, 2025.

Carolinas Rehab Art Gallery - 2nd Quarter

Carolinas Rehabilitation is looking for local and regional artists (North and South Carolina) to submit pieces to be hung in their newly renovated, high-traffic space. Every three months the gallery will be filled with new art, chosen by a committee. The artists chosen for each time period will be able to display 3 pieces of art

Joseph F. Haro Memorial Public Sculpture

Haddonfield Foundation wants to commission an artist or an artist team to create a sculpture that will become a vibrant addition to the sculptural fabric of our town. The Selection Committee will consider entries in all durable media worthy for outdoor installation and will consider all stylistic variations, including realism, figurative, multi-media, kinetic, and environmental works that push the boundaries of sculpture itself.

Something New VIII

The Something New program is a dynamic public art experience as well as an ongoing opportunity for sculptors to exhibit their work. The exhibit places sculptures in five outdoor locations in downtown Winslow on beautiful Bainbridge Island. The five locations are located inside the boundaries of the Bainbridge Creative District. The state of Washington now hosts 13 Certified Creative Districts, which are defined as a walkable neighborhood designated hub for creative sector jobs, tourist, and cultural activities.

  • All regional artists (Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Wyoming, Montana, California, and possibly Vancouver, BC) are eligible to apply

8th Biennial Art In the Orchard Sculpture Show

Art In the Orchard is a walking sculpture trail which winds through Park Hill Orchard's productive fruit gardens. The self-guided trail is about a half-mile long. A walk through the labyrinth adds about a quarter mile. Estimated viewing time might be 2-4 hours. Open all daylight hours from August 12 until Thanksgiving weekend. Please wear sturdy shoes.​ The call for the 8th Biennial Art In the Orchard Sculpture Show is open to everyone, novice or seasoned. Each of the thirty-four selected artists will receive a $750.00 Honorarium. For 2025, 30,000 or more visitors are expected.

The Lillian Orlowsky and William Freed Grant

Grants are offered to American painters aged 45 or older who demonstrate financial need. The primary emphasis is to promote public awareness and a commitment to American art, as well as encouraging interest in painters who lack adequate recognition. A jury made up of three art historians, artists, curators, and critics will review the applications in the late spring. Applicants will be notified no later than July 1, 2025.

  • Awards include a cash grant, ranging from $5,000 to $36,000 and an exhibition at Provincetown Art Association & Museum.

  • Open to artists over 45 who are painters and American (citizen or permanent resident)

Call for Proposals 2025-26 Pittsburg State University

The Department of Art at Pittsburg State University welcomes Solo and Group Exhibition Proposals for the 2025-2026 academic year. Pittsburg State University Department of Art, located in Porter Hall has two galleries, University Gallery and Harry Krug Gallery. The University Gallery offers 900 square feet of space with 120 linear feet of wall space. The Harry Krug Gallery has approximately 100 square feet of wall space.

The Howard County Arts Council: Exhibition Proposals

The Howard County Arts Council (HCAC) invited applications for exhibition proposals. The HCAC manages two galleries at the Howard County Center for the Arts with over 21,000 square feet of exhibit space. HCAC presents 11-12 exhibits per year of national, regional, and local artists, including two-person, small and large group, juried, curated, and community shows.

Recreation

The Confluence enriches the communities of Okanogan County with a high-quality art gallery, art education programs, and artist cultivation. Hosting seven solo and group exhibits each year, they proudly showcase the work of Okanogan County artists and beyond. This exhibition opportunity celebrates artists who vocalize their passion for playing in the outdoors within their art and reveal to us the meaningfulness when the two are fused.

2026 Open Call - Creative Capital Award

The Creative Capital Award provides individual artists with unrestricted project grants for the creation of bold, innovative, original, and imaginative new artistic works. In addition to unrestricted project grants from $15,000 up to $50,000, the Award offers transformative professional development support including strategic advising, peer mentorship, industry connections, and community-building opportunities.

  • US citizen, permanent legal resident, O-1 visa holder, or Tribal ID holder, Mid Career Artists.

Jerome Foundation Film Production and Mentorship Grants

  • Minnesota Filmmaker Mentorship Grant

    This grant provides Minnesota-based early career film directors, working in short and/or long form experimental, narrative, animation or documentary genres, or in any hybrid combination of these forms, up to $10,000 to engage in self-designed mentorship with experienced directors or other film professionals to strengthen their film directing craft and/or professional skills in connection with a specific film project.

  • Minnesota Film Production Grant

    This grant supports eligible Minnesota-based early career film directors whose work takes creative risks in expanding, questioning, experimenting with, or re-imagining filmmaking with production grants of up to $30,000.

  • New York City Film Production Grant

    This grant supports eligible New York City-based early career film directors whose work takes creative risks in expanding, questioning, experimenting with, or re-imagining filmmaking with production grants of up to $30,000.

bildingship – call for submissions

bildingship” is a working fellowship for young artists up to 31 years of age, to use bilding as space for their artistic work as well as actively engaging in the regular workshop programme for the duration of half a year (prolongation to one year is possible), including part-time employment (500€ per month for approx. 10 hours per week).

Al & Mickey Quinlan Artist Residency

The Al & Mickey Quinlan Residency is an application-based 8-week program for emerging and mid-career Midwest artists focused in the areas of drawing, painting, printmaking, photography, created and led in partnership with the Miller Art Museum. The 2025 resident is invited to live and work at the Dome House from August 4 through September 28, 2025. The residency serves the broader mission of the Dome House to provide artists working in all mediums with space for creativity, contemplation and inspiration.

How We Took a Small Grant and Turned It Into a Massive Career Break

In 2011, I landed my first public art project. Calling it a "commission" would be generous—it was a small, local initiative with a small grant from the city.
