New Art Opportunities (June 9th-June 23rd 2025)
Also regional list of U.S. galleries with open calls for paid subs
Some great opportunities are coming up in the next two weeks! If you’re new to my newsletter, I share no-fee residencies and other application-based opportunities for artists, most weeks. Most listings are U.S.-based, but I’ll occasionally include an international one if it feels legit.
Last Friday, I interviewed David Graff, a seasoned artist who’s represented by eight galleries. That conversation inspired me to include a list of galleries that regularly put out open calls—so you can keep an eye on them too. While I often emphasize the power of networking, I’ll be honest: two of my biggest public art commissions came from simply applying to open calls. They can absolutely work. All the best!

Fusion at NEON sits at the gateway to Norfolk’s NEON District—short for “New Energy of Norfolk”—the city’s first official arts district, designated in 2013. Once known as “Auto Row,” the area was a bustling hub for car dealerships and repair shops in the mid-20th century. Today, its industrial roots are still visible in the brick buildings and repurposed auto shops now home to galleries, studios, and apartments. The Art Selection Committee is seeking public artwork that marks the transition from a historic, tree-lined neighborhood into the vibrant urban environment of the NEON District, while also inviting and signifying the entrance to the Fusion apartment complex.
All artists who are residents of the United States are eligible to apply.
