this is so inspiring to listen to. congratulations on producing your films and gaining distribution. as someone who made short films and was hungry to make a feature this is a huge accomplishment.

do you share marketing advice on Substack, Stefan? I'd be interested in learning more about how you bring in traffic to your art and film projects.

hey @robopulp! congrats to you on making your films. am I understanding correctly that you've made the feature now? or still working toward it? and to answer your question, I occasionally share that kind of thing on substack but I'm more likely to just answer specific questions on here / instagram (@stefan.vdg). that being said, there's also a pretty cool film community I was a member of for a minute where people were sharing some pretty great ideas. Hutch.on.film runs it.

Thank you for your reply, Stefan.

Partially correct. I did a few short films that did well on film festivals, and was excited to take on a no budget feature project, but I couldn't find reliable committed people for something that size, so I pivoted to comics.

I will return to films at some point, but I'm very interested in the forms of storytelling social media has presented us, like ARG and video games. You seem to have a keen understanding of what the algorithm looks for, so I'm interested in exploring how to leverage the algorithm for those kind of social media based projects.

that's awesome. yes film really is the "team sports" version of artistic creation. there's a reason why other art forms can be so attracting when you feel creatively stagnant. glad you're finding something that you can do as the muses speak!

as for ways to leverage the algorithm today, as I mentioned in the meeting, showing the process tends to be a really potent way of finding audience. people want to see what it looks like for a game designer to build the game from the ground up. I would certainly start there. the documentation of your process. and many of those will turn into users once the game is live of course!

Very good. Thank you for your time, Stefan!

First off: it's great to see people I've been reading from on video. Reminds me how important it is to use that possibilities of the interwebs. Jump the recording hurdle!
